Wednesday Window: A Blue Baby Shower

This post isn't much.  Shockingly it's about sugar cookies.  Can you believe it?

I'm starting a new thing called Wednesday's Window.  Just a few quick pictures of something I've been working on.  A snapshot.

For the first installment baby cookies.  Specifically baby shower cookies for a little boy.  Simple, cute and fun.  Isn't that how they should all be?

Happy Baby Shower Day!

Vrooooooooooooom

Yeah, I'm making car noises.  Can't you tell?

They go perfectly with the baby shower racing cookies I made.

Perfectly.

Did you know race cars are hard?  Well, they are.  At least I think so.

I resorted to drawing on them before I started frosting.

Outlining and filling...

And after some dry time wheels were next.

The end result was pretty good.  I look at this and see 100 things I'd do differently but then again I'm never satisfied.

Race on!

Cookie Dump

That sounds bad.

Sorry.  As a part of my new year's resolution to get more organized in my cookie life I've been organizing photos on our home computer.  Yikes.  Me messy.

And I've come across stuff I haven't posted.

So here it is.

In no special order with no special reason.

Just cookies.

Thankfully you'll all be happy to know that thanks to a fantastic new year's day sale on Amazon - I bought myself a new Canon 60D camera.  So I love taking photos now.  Lots of photos.  It's fun.

Get ready for lots o'cookie photos.

And now you can sleep easy.

What's in a Background

I was asked to make onesie cookies last week so I thought it'd be the perfect excuse to show how cookies can look on different backgrounds.

Normally, or should I say in the past, I've just put cookies on a white plate and snapped a picture.

That being said - I did have the tools to be able to take a nicer picture. A good camera and a photo box like this help to take great photos...

Except I don't have the side lights.

No biggie.

However I did decide to go get some scrapbook paper that I could use for backgrounds.  I bought a bunch of paper but decide on the three below to test out.

First a little hounds tooth...

Then a little wood grain...

Or some plain baby blue...

My vote is for the wood grain.  I think it makes the cookies pop.

And who wouldn't want to eat poppin' cookies?

Cookie Purge

Normally I'd put each one of these cookie orders in a separate post.

But let's be honest.  I'm not normal.

So here's my cookie purge.  It's what I've been working on this week.  Some birthday cookies, graduation cookies for a photographer to give to her senior clients, wedding shower cookies, and don't forget the baby shower cookies.

Seriously.  Lots.

And lots of frosting.

Anyone want to come over and eat the extra frosting?

So before we start gorging ourselves on leftover frosting...look through these photos.  It'll make you feel good while you eat.  I promise.

Phew.  Now let's get back to eating that frosting.

Just please bring your own spoon.

It's a Boy

A friend asked if I'd make cookies for a baby shower she was hosting this past weekend...in Minnesota.

So not only did I get to make baby boy cookies but I also had to fret about getting them shipped up to Minneapolis.

From the moment I drop the package off at the post office...I don't really breath completely until I know the package has been delivered safe.

The cookies however were the fun part.  My friend told me that the parents were decorating the nursery in a sock monkey theme and blue colors.  So she asked that I keep with that theme.  And I did.

I think.

You can be the judge.

And while this might not seem like it fits - it goes with the sock monkey theme I spoke about before.

Good news....the package made it safely.  And I think in one piece!

A Little Baby...

Loves cookies.

At least I think they do.

A friend asked if I'd make cookies for a baby shower she was throwing for her sister-in-law.

And I think they turned out pretty cute.

And I hope everyone at the party enjoyed the cookies!
