Yeah...so I forgot the March Cookie Club Post

And those cookies are long gone.  Eaten.  Enjoyed.

And no longer around.

One might say that I forgot to take pictures of the Easter cookies I made for my grandma's March cookie club post.

And you would be right.

I'm not denying it.  Just trying to downplay it.

So all that I can show you is one picture.  One measly picture.

Of a green bunny.

I made a lot of other cookies - but apparently this is all I recorded of it.

So Happy (late) March Cookie Club.

Who doesn't like a green bunny?

Spring Cleaning in a Snow storm

This past Monday I didn't have to go to school.

FYI school in this scenario = work.

Why you ask?

Well, we had a "snow day" and the office was closed because of the snowstorm that happened Sunday.

Yeah, how awesome is that?

Well, it's so awesome that I decided to do some spring cleaning.

On a snow day.

Go figure.

It's what happens in March in Nebraska.

By the way it's supposed to be 69 degrees here on Friday.  I have a snow day Monday and shorts by Friday.

Welcome to the heartland.

And welcome to my mess in the basement.

Specifically the cookie area.

Dave has pretty much given up the idea of having a "man cave."  Nothing says manly like a place overrun by cookie cutters and sprinkles.

I knew I needed more storage.

I was starting to get all itchy and antsy each time I rounded the corner.  I don't handle disorganization well.

So in the interest of my sanity and possibly my marriage I went to the good 'ole red bulls eye (that's Target for those of you who are a step behind).

50 smack-a-roos later I came home with this.  Actually it was free with the gift card my brother gave me for my birthday.  How thoughtful of him to buy me a shelf.  How'd he know I wanted one?

Isn't she a beaut?

Here is where some people would post pictures of the organizing process.

Here is where I tell you I forgot.

Plus, let's be honest.  It's boring.

The final product is all we're interested in.

I even have a place to hang up my new apron that my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas.  It has my logo embroidered on it.  I love it.

I also organized all my cookie cutters again (aka: put them away in the designated bins) and placed all my sugars and sprinkles into small canning jars so they are easy to access, store and heck...they're just pretty to look at.

Plus it basically gives me an entire second table to be able to use while decorating.

Oh, what will I do with the space?

Let me count the ways!

Good thing too because I've got to get started on some Easter cookies, 4 dozen cookies I'm shipping to troops overseas as a part of "Operation Cookie Takeover," and making my grandma her March installment of Cookie Club.

January: Cookie of the Month

I made it by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin.

They were delivered yesterday.

Nothing like five days to spare.

So what did I make?

Well, it's kinda weird.

To outsiders.

I made toast, cheese and eggs.

Yes, really.

Why?

I was sick of making snowflakes and anything "winter" related.  Thus I thought I'd do something funny.

You see, my grandma is a wonderful cook.  Still is.  Even though she claims she's not.

But since my grandfather passes away over four years ago - she doesn't cook much and eats "whatever is in her fridge." I could tell many funny stories about that.

She and my grandfather used to go out to eat dinner most evenings.  It was something fun they enjoyed doing and had favorite places to eat.  She still does.

But many times she eats whatever is in her fridge.  And when I ask "so, what'd you do for dinner last night" many of her meals center around toast, eggs (in some form) and cheese.

Hence, nothing better to make her than cookie replicas of her "favorite foods" or I should probably say "most frequent!"

Complete they look pretty great. And I think they taste even better than the real thing.

The sugar version is always better.  Right?

Cookie of the Month Club

I made up my own "Cookie of the Month Club" - but the only recipient is my grandmother.

Sorry.

You'll have to become friends with her or at least figure out where she lives to get the cookies each month.

Those are the rules.

And it was her Christmas present.

Once a month I am going to bake and decorate her one dozen cookies.

It's a win-win.

She gets a dozen cookies each month and I get practice.

So I plan on sharing each month's cookies in a "Cookie Club" post.  The good, the bad and the ugly.  No matter how they turn out.

Heck, I might even try out some new recipes for cookie flavors.

Who's a better guinea pig than my Grandmother?

Well, other than my husband who also enjoys free cookies.

So with that...I'll leave you...because I need to come up with an idea for her first month!
