My best friend asked if I'd make cookies for their new next door neighbors.  She originally asked if I'd make them New Year's cookies however we had a little pipe leakage at our house which deterred me from making cookies for little bit.

That disaster at home gave me some extra time to think of something different to do for new home and neighborhood cookies.

Plus this gave me the perfect excuse to use the new cookie cutters I got from my parents for Christmas.  They're awesome. 

I decided to try something different.  Painting on cookies. I first flooded everything white and waited for them to dry overnight.

Then I used different airbrush colors, watered them down a bit and started painting, overlapping colors as I went.

I love how they turned out.  Such a rainbow of colors and so happy.  Cookies can be happy right?

Here they are.  I was also trying out different backgrounds to see what looked best.  I think my favorite is the last one.  The cookies seem to pop more.

Either way, the new home owners loved them, or so I was told.  Now I can't wait to paint more. Seriously, how have I missed all the fun on this?

Life is Like a Box of Chocolates

Forrest Gump totally had it right.  Life IS like a box of chocolates.

Especially when they are sugar cookies made to look like chocolates.  Right?

I'd rather eat the cookie version than the chocolate ones.  Yes, I know...you're gasping.  How can I not like chocolate?  I'm sorry.  I just don't.  I'd pick vanilla over chocolate EVERY time.  My mom and I argue over birthday cake every year, white cake with white frosting just can't be beat.  I don't care what you say, mom.

However, I do think she'd still like these box of chocolate cookies.

It all started with the idea of making Valentines cookies - and I wanted to do something different but easier. Ha! Easier is NEVER the case when making sugar cookies but I like to pretend.  It makes me feel better.  

After searching online I ordered boxes from BRP Box Shop.  It is literally the BEST place to buy boxes. They are my mecca.  My jam.  The place where I like to donate money to. I want to buy all types of boxes from them, for things I don't even make. Like macaroon boxes.  Or cupcake box carriers.  Heck, even cake pops (and the last time I tried to make cake pops I about threw everything out of my kitchen...it went that well...).

I found these 4x4 inch boxes and knew they'd be perfect.

Aren't they perfect?  And cute.  Cute perfect small boxes.

Perfect for "chocolate" sugar cookies.

The surprise just keeps getting better and better once you open up the cute perfect small box.  It fit three cupcake liners perfectly.  

Originally I had in mind four cupcake liners per box but after struggling to shove them in without completely looking mangled I settled for three.  Except they could each hold 2 cookies so it went from being a 4-piece gift box to a 6-piece.  Boom...the buyer wins again.

Now doesn't that make you want to dig in and eat the entire box?

How can you resist?

It's Christmas in February?

Yeah, so I'm a little slow.  I didn't get the final pictures posted from cookies I made in December actually in December.  So I thought I could either keep them until December 2015 or just fess up and come clean.

Why didn't I post them you ask?  No reason.  I'll just pretend I was super busy.  Yeah, that was it.  Busy, busy, busy.

Side note: my dad always says he's "busy, busy, busy" when I ask him if he can come help with a not-fun-task.  I think he's onto something.  I might need to adopt that mantra.

Back to Christmas cookies.  Since it's such a pertinent topic in February.

Here's what I made.  They're pretty self explanatory.  I think.  If not then I've got bigger problems than posting cookies late!

And this order was for Hawaiian Christmas cookies...a fun little deviation from the norm.  I made some other flowers too, but apparently I didn't take pictures.  Whoops!

Notice anything wrong with this picture?  Yeah, I didn't either. Literally until I was packaging it up.

The nose.  I forgot the snowman's nose.  Who does that?!

Don't worry I put the orange carrot nose on it before I delivered the cookies.

So Happy late Christmas in February.  Sounds like a totally legit statement right? I think it'll catch on at Hallmark.
